Our answer to the 90-degree heat on Tuesday was cold beer and live music at Newburgh Brewing Company. A huge thanks to Ripe for putting on an amazing show for WRRV Sessions!

Ripe at WRRV Sessions in Newburgh, NY

Robbie, Samson, and John from Ripe were fresh off their performance at the Boston Calling festival when they rolled into Newburgh for the very first time. While drummer Samson is the band member with New York roots (singer Robbie hails from Toronto, Canada), they were eager to make a connection with the Hudson Valley audience. Fans were too, with the first people waiting in line sharing that they drove from over an hour away in Saugerties, NY just to catch the show.

Ripe is a band that has built their audience by word of mouth, and Robbie shared that while the band has been together for years, their new single, Settling, is their first song to make an impact on alternative radio. Not only did they play Settling, along with other originals, they also performed a surprise cover of The Kink's Lola.

Ripe is a band that truly connects with their audience, and loves playing wherever they have a chance to make an impact on an audience. As they began their live set, singer Robbie reminded the audience that dancing was "highly encouraged", and even sang his best impression of the horn section that was absent from the acoustic performance to keep the mood and the true momentum of their music going strong.
