Well, I had a blast reminiscing about Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag" and a few from Alien Ant Farm, and I wanted to make it a regular thing to dig through the archives of WRRV songs and their turn-of-the-21st-Century videos. Luckily, Travis requested a specific song and made it easy for me. Let's all say thanks to Travis.

"Thanks Travis!"

Very nice.

Now this one is a band and a song that I actually met through WRRV. Not as an on-air person, or an employee of the radio station in any way, but as an 11 year-old listener. Marvelous 3 came to town to do a show at the Chance and did an in-store promotion at Media Play at the South Hills Mall (RIP). I bought a copy of the album and, as per the rules, was entitled to one (1) free WRRV shirt. In fact, I got the last one! The fact that it was an XL and I weighed 98 lbs was of no concern to me.

I have been on this station since 2010. The shirt I got at the Marvelous 3 in-store appearance in 1999 is, to this day, the only WRRV shirt I have ever owned. They are an incredibly hot commodity.

Oh, hey, speaking of that CD, look what I found:

I got this when I was 11. Now I just look like I'm 11.

So without further ado and reminiscence, here it is, Marvelous 3's "Freak of the Week":

Pretty catchy pop song with a huge hook, huh? Makes sense: Butch Walker, the frontman of the band, went on to be one of the biggest pop producers on the planet. So even if you’ve never heard another Marvelous 3 song, if you’ve heard a song by Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Simple Plan, Weezer, Gavin DeGraw, Dashboard Confessional, Panic! At the Disco, Pete Yorn, Sevendust, or many many other artists, well, you’ve probably heard his work.

And if somehow you haven’t heard a song by any of those artists, you should teach lessons in being hermit.

Well, that’s it for this week. Thanks again to Travis for the recommendation. And, as always, kids: stay off my lawn.
