Are The Academy Awards a Gigantic Waste of Time?
Oscars Statues Lined Up
When the average person has only seen one of the nominees what is the point? I mean they didn't even need a host.
The only thing anyone remembers the Oscars is if some old guy reads the wrong winner. No one goes to the movies anymore. If it's not streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime who even has time to see a movie these days?
Last night was the 91st Academy Awards. Wow, 91 years. It's been a good run. Most things die at 91. I think it's time the Oscars do too or at least be revamped.
These movies need to be more available for the public to see. Who's going out of their way to see a movie that was barely advertised? Of the seven nominations for best picture I had only seen one, Black Panther and the only reason I saw it was because it was on Netflix. I'd only even heard of three that were nominated.
Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
The Favourite
Roma
A Star Is Born
Vice
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
The Favourite
Roma
A Star Is Born
Vice
Should the film industry make it easier for us to see these films? How can we get excited and root for a film we didn't even know about?
