Let's all just be honest with each other...when it comes to this particular habit, I think we've ALL been in the same boat at some point. You desperately need to clean out your closet or dressers of clothing you no longer wear, you finally get around to it, spend hours sorting and trying on and bagging up items, maybe those bags sit in the corner of the room or the garage for a few days (or weeks). Then, you finally get them into the trunk of the car and drive around with them until you find a collection/donation bin to donate them into.

City of Poughkeepsie Introduces Free Clothing Recycling

Dutchess County, specifically Poughkeepsie area people, this one is for us. The City of Poughkeepsie made an exciting announcement this week about clothing recycling in the community. Seems like we can try to put those days of driving around with the donations in our car in the past.

The City of Poughkeepsie is excited to introduce a new clothing recycling program through our Department of Public Works. This free program allows community members to schedule curbside pickups for clean, bagged clothing directly from their homes.

Even more exciting, Poughkeepsie residents are also about to schedule a pickup of items by utilizing this website, or calling 1.800-244-6350. They are asking that home pickups are scheduled once you have three or more bags to donate.

The Helpsy website will ask for your general contact information, special instructions like where the driver can find the donations and so on. On pickup day, the items should be clearly labeled in a plastic bag.
