Future Of Once Upon A Child Wappingers Now Uncertain
It should come as no surprise that having the essentials for your child is a hefty expense, but thankfully there are resources and options across the Hudson Vally for parents, grandparents and caregivers alike to provide budget-friendly shopping options.
Between organized kids consignment sales, Facebook Marketplace, and second hand stores, we're lucky to have some options to get our hands on some great items. Recently, though, some speculation has been growing in the area, specifically in Dutchess County, about the future of one particular retail shop that buys/sells gently used kids' clothing, shoes, toys and baby gear.

Once Upon A Child Stores
Chances are, if you're a parent/grandparent, even a caregiver or family member, you've at least heard of Once Upon A Child. With more than 400 stores across the US and Canada, they are the largest child resale chain in North America, and the store locations are typically individually owned and operated.
The premise is pretty simple, people bring in children's' items that are no longer being used that are in GOOD shape, this can be clothes and shoes, toys, and baby gear, and the team at Once Upon A Child will examine the items, determine what they are able to take, and give you cash on the spot for your items. On the other side, as a shopper, you can go and browse hundreds upon hundreds of items that still have plenty of life left in them for your little one(s).

What's Going On At Once Upon A Child in Wappingers?
Local moms have been pretty vocal the past few days after discovering that all of the items at the Wappingers Falls location of Once Upon A Child was severely discounted, like 70-90% off items.
Others chimed in that they asked in the store what was going on and employees stated they were unsure if the location was closing, others found very little inventory left in the store when arriving during business hours to find the doors locked.
Just today (Monday, January 12th), the Wappingers Falls location posted on their official Facebook account that they would not be accepting buys at this time, which means people are unable to bring items in to be sold.
At this time nothing has been confirmed, as a call to the location on the phone number listed has gone unanswered, and their google business listing still shows regular operating hours. We will provide an update to this story once any additional information becomes available.
