FBI Warns of Fake Antibody Test Scams

It's sad that even during one America's darkest times there are still people who will take advantage.

Ever since mid March many Hudson Valley residents have been urged to go get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has it. Aside from testing to see if you currently have COVID-19, residents have also been urged to be tested for antibodies.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has issued a warning regarding fake antibody testing. The testing offers fraudulent results and is a ploy to obtain a patients personal information like names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and insurance information.

According to the FBI you should be aware of these warning signs:

Someone contacts you in person, over the phone or on social media to schedule a test.
They claim their test has FDA Approval but cannot be verified.
They offer incentives for taking the test.
Practitioners offering to perform antibody tests for cash

You can get creditable testing locations at the FDA.org. Also, never release your personal information to anyone other than experienced medical professionals who you trust.
