The horrific true story about the Upstate New York 'sex cult' has premiered on Lifetime.

Over the past few years we've seen a lot in the news regarding NXIVM. The story made national headlines when the leader, Keith Raniere was charged with human trafficking. Then a few months later Smallville actress, Allison Mack faced allegations of being involved.

It has been reported that the Albany based group had an estimated amount of 16,000 members.

The made to TV movie is shocking, horrific and hard to take in but hopefully the film can educate us to see how something like this can happen right in our very own back yards.

Lifetime recently released a film called Escaping the NXIVM Cult: A Mother's Fight to Save Her Daughter. The film highlights the experience of a mother and daughter's experience from joining the cult under the guise of being a self help group to then being branded and used as sex slaves.

The film is on currently available on Lifetime On Demand.
