We've been talking quite a bit lately about how different the mall is, especially compared to many of the mall memories that many of us have growing up here in the Hudson Valley. Long gone are the days of the Disney Store or arcade being the most exciting part of a trip to the local mall - there are luxury nail salons, piercing/tattoo spots, and the eatery options are nothing like the old mall food court experience.

Ever Heard of Kong Dogs?

No? I hadn't either, but apparently they're a franchise offering 'fresh new corn dogs' and they've opened a location at the Poughkeepsie Galleria.

Advertised as a 'new brand of corn dogs, trendy, delicious and homemade,' Kong Dogs is now up and running in the Poughkeepsie Galleria, offering eight flavors with four fillings, unique and fun flavors n- based on their website and social media posts, these aren't your average 'dog' offerings - did someone say ramen dog, or churro dog?

More than just a corn dog spot, Kong Dog is serving up fresh, handmade Korean corn dogs, plus chicken wings, hot dogs, even boba. Here's what we've gathered based on the menu:

There's a bunch of different sweet and savory options, with coatings like potato, sweet potato, churro, ramen, sweet chili Dorito, even spaghetti and Hot Cheetos! Beyond the coating, though, you get to decide what you want inside the dog. Straight hot dog, half and half with dog and cheese, full cheese, chicken sausage and even a plant-based option.

Kong Dog Poughkeepsie Opening

The Poughkeepsie Galleria held a soft opening (yes with free dogs on Monday, July 28th, and their full fledged opening happened on Tuesday, the 29th.

Located at the food court, Poughkeepsie joins the Crossgates Mall in Albany (peep their soft opening below), the Palisades Center in Nyack, and several other NY and out-of-state locations of this 'new' type of dog.
