Another step in the process to put a 118,000 plus square-foot distillery in Carmel, NY has been completed. Governor Cuomo signed legislation this week that will allow the distillery (a project from the Alexandrion Group) to continue with their $40-million dollar investment in the Hamlet of Carmel.

According to a press release, the bill permits the distillery to manufacture alcoholic products and sell their own products as a retailer. The distillery is expected to open in 2020 and provide more than 100 jobs to Hudson Valley residents.

The distillery is expected to bring significant economic revenue to Putnam County with visitors to the tasting room, along with retail and wholesale spirit sales. Do you think that the Hudson Valley needs another distillery? What is your favorite spirit, beer or cider that is produced in the State of New York? Do you have more than one? Let us know.
