As if some of you needed another reason to pack up a moving truck and leave New York. Did you have any idea that snakes of this size called the Hudson Valley home?

I'm not afraid of snakes but I wouldn't say that I'm there biggest fan either. This picture is what nightmares are made of.

In the words of Ice Cube's character from the movie Anaconda, "You mean there's snakes out there this big?"

According to SUNY's Environmental Science and Forestry website, it appears to be called a Black Rat Snake which is the largest species native to New York. Scott Daniel Ellison, a local artist and photographer snapped the photo near Lake Minnewaska and claims it was just over three feet in length.
