Another Clothing Store Goes Bankrupt, Leaves Hudson Valley
Another store from our youth is closing for good. This week the company behind Wet Seal, announced that they would be closing their remaining 171 stores. This might not come as too big a shock to their customers, because they had originally filed for bankruptcy in January of 2015 and closed half of their stores at that time. (Just about the same time that they closed their Poughkeepsie Galleria store).
Unfortunatly we are too used to hearing about stores closing in our area (and nationwide). The Limited earlier this year and Joyce Leslie in 2016.
How many New York Wet Seal locations are left? Which malls will have yet another empty store front?
Here are the New York locations as of January 1, 2017 according to shopsleuth.com:
- Albany, NY Crossgates Mall
- Cheektowaga, NY Walden Galleria
- Garden City, NY Roosevelt Field
- Hamburg, NY McKinley Mall
- Lake Grove, NY Smith Haven Mall
- Middletown, NY Galleria at Crystal Run
- Syracuse, NY Destiny USA
- Yonkers, NY Cross County Shopping Center
Sadly, this means that more people here in the Hudson Valley and New York State are out of work.
