It has been sometime since I have tried using a dating app and with the encouragement of a few people at work (and their success) I am giving it a go again. Here are a few things that I have come across that I want to share to help keep you a bit safer online.

While most everyone is on the up and up, there are people out there "in the app universe' that are twisted and only want to mess with you (even on the paid apps).

Ladies two things I learned very quickly, get a burner phone. You can get one for any where from $20-$40 at CVS, Walmart, Riteaid etc. That is just the cost of the phone and then depending on the phone and what kind of service you want, ie data, text, minutes per month etc, the monthly plans will start about $25 per month. There are a few plans that will cost you in 3 month increments, and those can run $20 to $50 for the three months but the level of service might not be what you want. Double check what is out there before you buy the phone.

The next thing you will want to do is learn how to do a reverse Google image search. The moment the person starts interacting with you, do the reverse image search to see if that person really exists in the general geographic region that they say they are. For instance, if a person says that they are in New Jersey, but you find that the photos are of a person who lives in England? Maybe this isn't the person for you and you should block them.

As I go through this process, I will pass on more info to you. Another quick tip that I have received from a few of my guy friends. Try to only text back and forth for three or four days, before you meet up. Meeting face to face/in-person is really where you are going to find if you click. Meet on a neutral ground, restaurant, book store etc and spend an hour or so just seeing if you vibe. If you don't, then you haven't invested toooooo much time in one another and you can move on to the next person.

Good Luck. If there are tips that you want me to pass on, email them to me Brandi@WRRV.Com.
