Wait, did we just get called fat and lazy by Homer Simpson?

Upstate New Yorkers are an entitled bunch. New Yorkers claim that they can handle anything but the minute the longest running television show starts mocking us, we absolutely lose our minds.

The Simpsons have been taking jabs at upstate New York for years now. There have been so many references towards central, upstate and the Hudson Valley that I have often hypothesized that the fictional town of Springfield is in Upstate New York.

I have some reasons here.

During the latest episode of The Simpsons, the family tries to take a trip to Niagra Falls. Their trip takes them through Upstate New York. The family realizes they're in Upstate New York after seeing closed down Toys R Us and Sears stores.

This then leads to a lot of insults in the tune of New York, New York.

"I want to sleep in a town that never wakes."
Start watchin' Fox News/ Stop Watchin' your weight."

Spoiler alert: They made it to Canada and they made fun of our neighbors to the north as well.

Did you see the episode? Should we be offended or flattered?
